I’m in the process of making several changes in my photography. I’ll be telling you about the full set of changes in future articles after I have decided upon the various aspects of it. The last four articles have addressed some aspects of it, primarily “the look” of my pictures. I’m using this article to show you my latest thoughts relative to “the look.” I have pretty much moved past the “old-timey” look and am considering the above two styles.
The above two pictures are identical in their processing except that one is color and the other is B&W. I am finding that I prefer strong colors and strong blacks & whites and that while I will probably use color in most of my pictures, I will occasionally use B&W when it better suits the mood. I’ll continue tweaking the process as I go along, but the above are getting pretty close to the styles I plan to use with slight variations depending upon the subject & mood of the picture.

There are some pictures who especially work good with black & white, or a monochromic color, or even a sepia tone. This is what I adore about the processing of images after taking them. Capturing the image entirely through different colorsettings … well, and others, of course
