Future Path Unknown

Almost all the pictures I show on this blog are the result of my experimenting with different styles and subjects and cameras and lenses.  In the above I was waiting while Misty was getting some of her yearly lab work, shots, etc.  I used my Olympus TG-4 and a LR preset I have developed for converting jpegs to a toned monochrome style that I like.  The above had the preset applied and then I restored the saturation to see what they looked like with no saturation adjustment.  One result is that the colors have shifted, but I like the effect on these images … not so much on others.  I may use it in the future, but I don’t know where or when.

I would like to work on making pictures for some small books, but I need a subject and theme.  I had thought it might be one about Hanover, but I’m having a hard time getting motivated to go to town to get the pictures, and I’m still wrestling with a theme, style, compositions, etc.

I am also running out of ideas for future experimentations and trials in photography, and that means I need another focus for this blog; but, I have no ideas now for my photography or blog or books going forward.

One thing that I might have to do is look for another program to process my pictures.  Adobe Light Room seems to just get slower and give me more and more trouble as I wait on it to catch up with me.  I have moved away from using raw files to speed things up, and that helped a lot initially, but the program seems to still be getting slower and occasionally bogging down.  I find that I need to often close the program and start over to recover at a more normal speed.  I really don’t look forward to finding and learning another system, but I may have no choice unless Adobe moves fast to improve the speed.

As far as my photography goes, I would like to get back to using my Fuji X-T2 and lenses and maybe my Pentax K-3 II and the 55-300mm lens for certain subjects.  I switched to wide-to-normal prime lenses and have dropped the use of long zoom lenses for a time now.  I might try the heavier gear again just to confirm whether I can use it, want to use it, or need to use it.

I have another activity to photograph for Homewood with the X-T2 this afternoon and to then process and deliver Friday.  I may follow that with using the X-T2 for some personal work to show on this blog if I think of something.  I might also try to photograph some local wildlife with the Pentax gear if I can carry it and get around, and if I can find any wildlife anymore.  My right knee (or back?) has been limiting my getting around this summer.

Basically, I have no purpose for my photography other than making pictures for Homewood publications.  My only personal needs for photography have been to keep myself entertained and busy.  I do have a few potential posts I could publish using pictures I haven’t published so I might prepare one or two of them.  I am also working on printing more of my older travel pictures to hang on our walls.  Other than that, I don’t know what’s next other than maybe another travel book using old pictures.
