Black Backgrounds

I like to show flowers, etc. on black backgrounds.  Some photographers cut the flowers and lay them on black velvet to photograph.  I don’t do that.  I try to make all of my pictures without cutting the flowers, etc.  This means that I have to contend with natural lighting in the field and the distractions of surrounding items.  I then spend the time to drop the exposure of the surrounding parts of the image using software to create the black background … and no, I don’t cut items out.  It is not always easy to adjust just the exposure of the background, especially on images like this one, but I enjoy doing it.  I do it all in Adobe LR with the adjustment brush.
