I like the Pentax K-3 with the 18-135mm lens for its versatility, zoom range, and focusing. I don’t like the fact that it is large and heavy. While I was checking how various cameras worked for photographing flowers, I checked their focusing and depth of field (DoF) at different apertures. Since all of the flower pictures were at the end of the zoom range, I checked to see that it didn’t front or rear focus. It doesn’t. The easiest way to check is to photograph a ruler on close to a 45-degree slant. You can see the results for the Pentax showing that it focused where I wanted at the six-inch mark and the amount of focus range in the following picture.
The Fujifilm X100F is OK when I want the lightest and smallest camera and shortest DoF by using a wider aperture. The X-T2 with the 50mm F2 also works when I want to compromise with just a prime lens. But, I’m still not satisfied and have some other options to try.
