Spotted Surge

The sap of the euphorbia maculata, or spotted spurge, is poisonous and considered carcinogenic.  We have plenty of it growing along the edges of the sidewalks this year.  I thought I’d show a picture of it up close since few ever look at it that closely.  It has small flowers and capsules that contain the seeds in addition to the red blotches in the center of the leaves which are the reason for it being called spotted.
