Cormorants Visit Homewood

We have two visitors in our large pond at Homewood at Plum Creek that I photographed on Saturday morning.  They are double-crested cormorants.  They have a long hooked beak, long neck, sit low in the water, swim with their heads tilted up, and dive.

I wish I had a longer lens but with the 36MP K-1 II and the 28 – 105mm lens I was able to capture them.  The wide image was made at 105mm focal length.  I cropped and resized other images to get the close-ups.  They aren’t ideal pictures but good enough for identification.  I tried to get some more shots but they stayed away from me.
