I bought a desk lamp.  It is a very bright cool dimmable LED light with a magnifier.  I have found that as I age that a brighter light with a magnifier lens in the top is a great aide to seeing small things.

It also makes a good light for lighting small things to photograph.  I hadn’t intended to photograph through the magnifying lens, but even that might occasionally be warranted.
