It is no secret that I like medium dark grained oak and ash woods, and in this case it ran into my photography.  I have been thinking about when and where to utilize high contrast B&W images with blocked shadows vs. emphasizing the details in the shadow areas.

So far it is clear to me that it isn’t a case of one or the other exclusively.  There are times that I prefer high contrast images with the shadows blocked, but there are other times I don’t.

The question of whether or not I want to seek out and specialize in images that only work in one style, or the other, is still unanswered.
