Sunday’s Walk

I have a slight problem with my OM-5 camera.  The covering on the rear thumb rest came off and I lost it somewhere.  The camera still works; but until I fix it, I decided to try my old Lumix LX7 camera and I took it out to make some test files yesterday.

I think my problem with the OM-5 camera is that I carry it with a strap around my neck while I walk.  While doing that the camera swings against my jacket and the various camera coverings, control wheels, etc. sometimes get caught and pulled off or moved.  In the worst case I might knock the camera or lens against the frame of a door.  I’m now thinking about switching to a wrist strap and carrying my camera in a bag, or sometimes in a pocket.  This is more doable now that I’m not using long lenses and looking for quick shots of birds and wildlife.

The picture above shows the status of the Terrance Lounge.

I’ve been carrying my EM-1 with a wrist strap for several years now. I have trouble with my spine, can’t tolerate a neck strap, and prefer the wrist strap over the kind that goes over one shoulder. I switch back and forth between hands as I’m walking. The strap is made by Altura and seems to be holding up well and what helps make it work for me is the EM-1’s large grip – so the strap wraps around my wrist and my fingers wrap around that camera grip.
